GONGKA: STORIES FROM JAKARTA’S CHINATOWN
Frisca Saputra recalls her memories of living in Glodok, Jakarta's Chinatown. As Gongka, a nickname given to her by her father that means 'stupid kid,' Frisca learns about the ways of life from her childhood. There is also a story about when she stole her friend's sandals so they couldn’t go home and had to stay at her house to play, as well as her experience tasting traditional food from her grandma.
About
Frisca Saputra is a graduate of the Academy of Secretarial Studies. After working at several companies, she found a new calling as a stage decorator and public manager for EKI (Eksotika Karmawibhangga Indonesia), a renowned dance drama troupe. The book Gongka was born after she attended a writing workshop led by Reda Gaudiamo, a skilled writer and singer.
