MORAL PHILOSOPHY: FROM AL-GHAZALI, PAKUBUWANA IV, LAWRENCE KOHLBERG TO HANS JONAS
The Golden Rule, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” is a moral foundation that is easily accepted by everyone, everywhere. Thus, morality, which concerns matters of right and wrong, is intuitively easy to understand. But why does morality become the most crucial issue in society?
This book opens our eyes to the fact that moral issues are not as simple as they seem. There are factors of personal consciousness, legal systems, social conventions, customs and traditions, educational systems, social systems, and belief systems. The author explores these from the perspectives of philosophical figures such as Al-Ghazali, Pakubuwana IV, Lawrence Kohlberg, and Hans Jonas.
