A Bowl of Chicken Noodles Before I Die

A Bowl of Chicken Noodles Before I Die

by
Brian Khrisna

Ale has always been an outsider. At 37, he moves through life like a ghost—unnoticed, unwanted, and weighed down by the crushing grip of loneliness. Then he makes a decision: he will end his life.

He plans everything carefully—exactly 24 hours to take an entire bottle of pills, no mess, no fuss. But as he prepares, he notices a small instruction on the label: Take after a meal. A thought sparks—if he’s going to die, why not have one last satisfying meal? He heads out for his favorite comfort food—chicken noodles. But fate has other plans: the stall is closed. His perfectly planned ending is delayed, and for the first time in a long time, he finds himself waiting for tomorrow.

Brian began writing in 2010 through Tumblr, sharing stories and emotions—a habit he continues today, producing poetry, prose, short stories, and serials. Born in Bandung on January 17, he has published several works, with readers’ favorites including Kudasai (2019), Sisi Tergelap Surga (2023), and Bandung Menjelang Pagi (2024). He also released collections such as Merayakan Kehilangan (2016), The Book of Almost (2018), and Museum of Broken Heart (2020).
